projeto 12 - Patudo

Hello! Hi! I am Duffy and I am here to join you on this adventure!

Together we are going to find out what child-friendly justice means. We will also learn about the rights that are written in the “Convention on Rights of the Children”. Have you ever heard about this document, which is so important?

Here are different materials designed for you, including animated videos and fun games to help you to relax and learn.
Ask an adult to help you and come with me

Some of my rights, as a child

  • You have the right to live and grow up with your parents, or with your caretakers and your family, as long as they take good care of you.
  • If your parents get separated or divorced from each other, you have the right to be with both of them regularly.
  • You have the right to be protected from all forms of mistreatment and neglect. If someone violates this right, even if it is someone from your family, tell an adult you trust and ask for help.
  • If you are adopted and move in with a family, you have the right to be helped so that you feel good. Having a family that takes good care of you is a right.
  • You have the right to the best possible health, to drink potable water, to eat healthy food, to a clean environment, and to all the information that will help you to live a healthy life. Adults should avoid that you get sick and take good care of you if you have any health problems.
  • You have the right to have a quality of life that allows you to develop all your abilities or potential, whether physical, mental, moral, social, or spiritual.
  • You have the right to education and to an education that is accessible and appropriate to your abilities.
  • You have the right to play and participate in cultural, artistic, and recreational activities. You also have the right to rest.
  • You have the right to be protected against all forms of exploitation and sexual abuse. Your body is yours and no one can touch you, take pictures of you or film you against your will.

Adults from many countries wrote a very important document. It was written in 1989 and is called the “Convention on the Rights of the Child”. In this document are written all the rights of children. Portugal has also signed this document which means it has to respect these rights.
You have many rights, and all decisions must be thought out in a way that guarantees your best interests. And you also have some duties!

You have the right to give your opinion and to be heard by adults in all matters that concern you. Your opinion is very important!
But remember! You have many rights, but so do other people! You must respect other people’s rights.
